2021 four-star DaRon Holmes is down to four schools.
Top-50 Prospect DaRon Holmes is down to Marquette, Arizona, Dayton, and Cal.
Marquette: DaRon would be a strong addition for the Golden Eagles as they already have 4-star PG Stevie Mitchell and 3-star SG Kameron Jones committed for 2021. Marquette already has a loaded front-court staring senior Theo John; however, Holmes would be an immediate impact player with his ability to stretch the floor and rim protection. Holmes has already taken an official visit and cites “Marquette has a great support system; the students really come and support the basketball games. The coaching staff is cool and have a great culture.”
Arizona: Arizona loses Zeke Nnaji but brings in former 5-star big man Jordan Brown to bolster things down low. Holmes could be a great compliment to a rim protecting traditional big man and provide shooting and ball handling. Sean Miller has a great track record with bigs like Deandre Ayton and Zeke Nnaji. “The atmosphere is amazing the coaching staff is always engaged. They have really good development and I like the style of play.”
Dayton: The Flyers lost talented big man Obi Toppin to the NBA draft--this could be music to DaRon’s ears--Toppin came in as a 2 star recruit and worked his way to a lottery pick in 3 years. With the minutes that could be available and Dayton’s track record with bigs, Dayton should feel confident with Holmes. “Dayton has a really nice program, also underrated. They do a great job with their players and the coaching staff is really cool.”
Cal: Senior Grant Anticevich started every game last year for Cal and with his departure that could mean big minutes for DaRon right out the gate. Holmes would be Cal’s first commitment within the Class of 2021, putting him in position to recruit other guys with him. “I really like the style of play they have a great culture in their program. I like that it’s a high academic school and the coaching staff does a great job at development."
