Q/A with 2022 four-star Noah Batchelor
Tell me about where you grew up.
I grew up in downtown Frederick which is in Maryland until we moved to a place called Adamstown, where we live now. Great town with great people.
Was basketball always a priority in your household? Who put the ball in your hands?
Basketball was never a priority in my household and honestly I used to play every sport so when I started to play at a young age, I just fell in love with the game as soon as I touched the ball.
When did you start taking the sport seriously?
I started taking the sport seriously in 8th grade.
Any family members/relatives that played college/pro sports?
My grandpa played in the MLB.
Describe your game in a sentence or two.
I’m a great shooter, very athletic and can score at all three levels. Also a great communicator.
What does the game of basketball mean to you? In other words, why does it mean so much to you?
The game of basketball means a lot to me in many ways but the main reason is that it takes all the stress and anxiety away as soon as I get on the court and is also a very fun sport.
How do you feel about your current ranking?
I don’t pay attention to the rankings.
Tell me your general thoughts on rankings. Do they matter? If so, how much do they matter in the whole scheme of things?
I don’t like the rankings and they definitely don’t matter. Once you get to college those rankings mean nothing but once you stop worrying about your “rank” you’ll be a much better ball player. People shouldn’t rely on rankings.
Do you have a current list of schools you’re focused on?
I don’t have a current list of schools in focused on.
What schools reach out to you the most?
Memphis, Marquette, Maryland, Georgetown, Georgia, Virginia Tech, Purdue, Pittsburgh and NC State.
During the recruiting process, does it make a difference how often the head coach reaches out to you (texts/calls)? Does it make you feel that much of a priority?
At the current time we are in yes and no, I know every single one of them are very busy with trying to win their games and they are locked in with there season. But with that being said if they call every once in awhile that shows something. I know they are all very busy.
Do you have someone to guide you through the recruiting process and show you the ropes? If so, who is that person and what advice have they given you?
Honestly my mom and dad, they are helping me with the zoom calls and all the recruiting questions so they are a big help.
Have you talked with anyone else on your class about possibly forming a package deal in college?
Jalen Washington, Jett Howard, Jarace Walker, Jaden Bradley, just to name a few people.
What schools have you visited so far, either unofficially, officially or virtually?
Unofficially I’ve visited GW, Maryland and Virginia. I haven’t taken an official visit and I have done zooms with Marquette, Arkansas, VT, Pitt and Maryland.
Is building a stacked recruiting class, and bringing top talent in with you a priority?
No, it’s not a priority but would be tuff if I can bring a good recruiting class in with me wherever I go.
Did you have a dream school growing up?
Growing up it was Duke and UNC.
